A romantic autumn Mildale Farms wedding

Soon after Abby Coleman and Tom Hickman got engaged, the couple set about organizing their October 2015 nuptials, which would be held near Abby’s hometown of Overland Park, with the help of Abby’s mom and Jonnelle Belger-Gentry of Events by Elle.

Along the way, they tapped Paper Crane Photo to capture the day, Indie Olive Press for invites and selected Mildale Farms to host the weekend festivities.

“It showcased everything Tommy and I love about the fall,” she says of the 22-acre property, which served as the backdrop for the rehearsal dinner, ceremony and reception. “We wanted it to be elegant, classy and romantic, but never stuffy.”

Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed libations on the lawn before venturing to Mildale’s equestrian-style barn for a seated dinner. Landers’ Visions provided soft drapery, copper-toned uplighting and the dramatic, eye-catching chandelier.

After the reception and a sparkler exit, the newlyweds snuck off to a cottage on Mildale Farms before leaving for their honeymoon in Moab, Utah.

“The whole day just went perfectly,” she says. “It was very personal, calm and full of love.”
